NUTAF RETURNS

The Nigerian Universities Theatre Arts Festival (NUTAF) has announced its return to the theatre academia scene with an invitation to a whooping 37 Universities nationwide.

Following a 7 year hiatus the event is being revamped with Nasarawa State University, Keffi, playing host to hundreds of students from departments of performing arts around the country.

In the past NUTAF was considered the “olympics” of performing arts activities in academia, attracting the support of established Nigerian actors, theatre practitioners, film makers, and more.

The event was last hosted by the University of Jos, Plateau state, in 2006. This year Nasarawa State University, Keffi will be hosting the event from 14th – 20th July, 2013. To all young thespians we say, get out there and have a theatrical blast! The renaissance is well alive!

The Dancer in this combined art piece explores the positive and negative sides of her life, shows her doubts and fears, her submission to a strong African tradition, to finally discover her true colours and creative abilities. She pours them out over a giant canvas, thus painting new possibilities and sharing her victory with us.

La Danseuse, dans cette oeuvre d’art combine, explore les cotes positifs et négatifs de sa vie, expose ses doutes et ses peurs, sa soumission a une forte tradition africaine, pour finalement découvrir sa vraie personnalité et ses aptitudes créatives. Elle les verse sur une toile géante, peignant ainsi de nouvelles possibilités et partageant sa victoire avec nous.

ABUJA! This Easter something hilariously spectacular (how’s that for hyperbole?) is coming to you.

A.R.T is proud to announce that as part of our Theatre Support Program (TSP) we will be working with the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON) to bring you: RESURRECTION LAUGHTER! on Easter Day.

Ressurection laughter on Easter Day is going to be a fun-filled event hosted by Mc Bluetooth® and Co-hosted by D2® – both guilty of cracking ribs since 1990 (True story! We once testified against them in Comedy Court).

TOP TALENTS of Abuja will be out for this one, with special guest appearances and performances by: Willywilly and Yaks Man of Wazobia fm, Onome di Saint cfr., Wahala cfr., (that’s Comedian of the Federal Repblic for una wey no sabi) Fred Bright, 6 Foot Plus, Gully Ryder, Maggic Steppers, G-Next, D Elevators and a ton of others. (For real, we put them on a scale and they actually weigh a ton.)

If you’re spending Easter in the FCT then you have to be there! If you’re not spending Easter in the FCT, then you better start changing your plans.
